Black Friday

I have never woken up early on black Friday for a deal. First of all I am not an early bird. Second, I have never been one to hunt for a bargain. Neither of those are really good traits. Late in the day on Friday we just happened to be by Cabela's. How convenient for Marcus. Luckily he had just taken me to dinner, so I was happy.

We did see some deer:

And here is Marcus in the dressing room trying on some pretty fancy hunting overalls. He needs them for his pheasant hunting trip. I am told they will hold all of his birds, dead ones. I was also told the front pocket is for his cell phone so he can talk to me whenever he wants. I will test that theory about 5 times a day when he is gone.

He has a bandage on his "trigger finger" because he nearly cut it off with a table saw a couple of weeks ago. And the beard is because he has not been able to work at the fire station since his injury. (firemen aren't allowed to have beards) I love him being home, but I do not love the beard.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you God for my family, especially my husband, my friends and church, shelter and food, and for getting to live in a free country.

Crack of Dawn

I thought it would be a great idea for us to wake up at 6:00 am to go to Wal-Mart and beat the Thanksgiving eve crowd. I felt like I was getting up in the middle of the night. I thanked God about 5 times, while I was getting ready, that I didn't have to wake up that early every day.

This is what Wal-Mart looks like without crowds or long lines. It's a rare occurrence and it was worth a picture.

Thank you Wal-Mart for having everything I needed. Now I am going to attempt to make some pies. After I nap, of course.

Sip 'n See

My friend Laura had her second sweet baby boy on October 30th. So I helped host a Sip 'n See so everyone could meet Alden.

Here's Alden modeling his new hat:

Shop 'til You Drop

Today was my 3rd Annual Christmas Open House. There were some very talented girls here with some creative things to sell. I didn't get pictures of everything, but here's a sample.

You can visit some of their websites too, Sharon, Ryane, and Kylie.

Not the man...or the movie, just W. I collect them, because I am Dina W. Although George "W" did speak at my college graduation (Texas Tech 1997) That was pretty exciting.

W in my bedroom:

My Aunt made me this W:

A gift from my sister:

No good story behind this one:

This was my first W. It's from Ballard Designs. I ordered it about 8 years ago and they still send me catalogs just hoping I'll order again. I love their stuff, but I can usually find it cheaper at Hobby Lobby. Anyway, here's the first W:

This is my latest W. It is a gift from 7 sweet girls from Arkansas. They came and stayed with me during the last Canton weekend. Good times.

Here Comes Santa Clause...

This is my favorite Christmas decoration to put out each year. He was a gift from my sister-in-law a few years ago. He's about 5 feet tall and sings and dances. I wish he would dust and vacuum too!

Dont' Judge Me

I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet...Christmas came down from the attic tonight! These pictures don't even show half of it. I didn't do the best job of packing up last year. I am paying for it this year. I put up several trees and all the ornaments are mixed together in different boxes. Putting away all my Christmas stuff is very depressing for me, so I guess it's reflective of the mood I was in.

So now it's time to get to work and make sense of this mess. How exciting!

New Drapes

Drapes or Curtains? Is there a difference? Drapes sounds fancier. So I got some new drapes. They are not even functional. I didn't need them to close, because that window faces the backyard. I just needed them to warm up the space. I think they did.

I can't show you a picture of the living room with out showing a "before" picture. Are you ready?

I hope it goes with out saying that all these before pictures are when we looked at the house, not when we lived in the house. That is my red purse in the picture though. That is the only thing I'll claim. So in this room we took the paneling out, scraped the popcorn off the ceiling, Marcus put down and stained the hardwood floors and we took down those curtains and got some drapes! We also knocked out part of the wall that goes into the kitchen. I guess I shouldn't say "we". Marcus did just about everything. I was the foreman.

Extreme Home Makeover

Here's another before and after. Our Guest Bathroom:

It could be in a 1984 museum.

We decided not to leave the potty in the bathtub.

And After:

This dresser and mirror was the first piece of furniture Marcus's parents bought when they were newlyweds. Marcus turned it into a vanity. I love it. Now we can't move, because I don't want to leave it with the house.

Election Day

1 Timothy 21:3

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.
