Only 364 days left...

I really, really don't like the day after Christmas. It is so depressing. I miss hearing Christmas music on the radio, Elf on TV everyday, seeing Christmas commercials and Salvation army bell ringers at the store. Worst of all knowing that I have to take down my trees and decorations soon. It always makes the house seem so bare and unfestive. I'm probably going to have to stay in my p.js today so I can cope.

On the upside, I get to play with my new toys. Look what Santa brought me! I must have been really, really good.

This is from my parents, who at one time were Santa.

Marcus got me this really cute "Happy Everything" plate. The Christmas tree comes off and you can change it for different holidays. I LOVE it. He got me several other great things. I'm lucky that he is such a thoughtful and generous gift giver. My in-laws are super generous too:

My first Christmas gift of the season always comes from my friend Rachael in El Paso. (she's been waiting for a shout out). Rachael's gift came about 2 weeks before Christmas and I opened it right away. If she got one of my gifts early (that's not likely to happen) she waits until Christmas or her birthday to open it. That takes real maturity.

Cute notepads, huh? I started making lists on them right away.

Thanks Rachael!

Speaking of Rachael. Look what she got for Christmas:

Electric Sex. Hopefully you've have seen A Christmas Story to understand that. If not, crawl out from under your rock and rent it.

Marcus got several great things too. His sister got him this electric griddle he's been wanting. He used it to make me breakfast, so Merry Christmas to me too. I am pretty spoiled.

I hope you got everything you wanted!

Happy Birthday Jesus

1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were so afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward
men.

Luke 2:1-14

We spent Christmas morning with Marcus's Family at our house. Marcus made a huge, delicious breakfast. My mother-in-law brought the traditional Jesus birthday cake.

Here are my nieces and nephew, Jennifer, Melissa, and Jeddy, ready to blow out the candles after we sing Happy Birthday

Merry Christmas
and
Happy Birthday Jesus!

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve at my parent's house.

My nephew and niece, Ryan and Morgan:

My parents got them a Kung Fu Panda Wii game. Here they are in action. Thankfully their dad got video of them too. It was pretty comical.

You can see my new Kitchen Aid mixer in the background. That was a gift from my parents. It's no Kung Fu Panda, but I love it.

Here are Morgan and Ryan showing their more civilized side playing their cello and viola. Very impressive!

Every Room Has To Be Festive

There is even Christmas in the Bathroom

This is where Sulley, our Elf on the Shelf, decided to hang out today:

Christmas in the Pink Room

This tree is my newest addition to my Christmas collection. I needed it.

I love these vintage looking ornaments:

This snowman is from one of my trips to Canton. I wish he could stay out all year.

The Best Day Ever

Marcus and I are so lucky to have "non-traditional" work schedules. He works every third day at the fire station, and I work about every third week, or month or so. I'm in real estate, so I am rarely working these days. Mainly, I'm just a wife and I like it that way. Anyway, yesterday we got to spend the day Christmas shopping. Then we went out to dinner and saw the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Texan. I have been wanting to go for years. I loved it.

Here are some pictures...

Everything is made of ice. Even if looks like it's not ice, it's really ice. Marcus checked and let me know every other minute, "this is all made of ice!"

I loved the candy house. This is a picture from inside the house. It's all ice..

On our way home we looked at Christmas lights and finished off our perfect day with the perfect treat, a Chick-fil-A Peppermint Chocolate Milkshake. It doesn't get much better than that.

Christmas in the Office

I can't put a Christmas tree on the floor in this room, because this is also the dog room. Sometimes they can't tell the difference between a fake tree and a real "I need to mark my territory" tree.

This unique nativity set is from my sister in law.

This chandelier in my office was FREE. I found it on my street in somebody's trash. Is that embarrassing? It was brass. I just painted it and Marcus wired it, so I could plug it in.

I probably need to hang some Christmas balls on it.

Christmas in the Kitchen

My Kitchen tree is one of my favorites to decorate. It's full of gingerbread men, kitchen utensils, peppermint candies, and cupcakes.

This window and screen door looks into the office. This is also where the dogs sleep at night.

Marcus added outlets on top of my cabinets specifically for Christmas lights and garland.

This plate is a new addition this year.

My Mary Engelbreit Santa cookie jar. He has a scratch, but I still love him.
