Where I Live

Kelly's Korner is having a home tour again. Today's room is the living room! So welcome to my living rooms people.

This is our "formal" living room. It's not really formal, it just doesn't have a TV in it. It gets plenty of use though.

My Aunt Carol painted me that cherry picture. I love it!

The shelf is just an old window held up with brackets.

This cross painting is one of my favorite things. My friend Ryane painted it just for me.

My ceilings are blue in this room. Can you tell? In real life you can, so you'll just have to come over.

This black cabinet belonged to Marcus's grandmother.

I decided to leave this nativity set out after Christmas. Jesus is for all year, right?

Now here is our TV room:

This is the view from my seat. I was watching the "news". You know, on E!

Those iron things came out of our house that we flipped. It was built in the 70's and had that railing in the entry way. I'll show you all those pictures another time.

And that dresser belonged to my grandparents.

This is Marcus's chair:

He loves having the pillows and blankets on there :)

The sign on the top says,

"We may not have it all together, but together we have it all."

So true!

Now here are the BEFORE pics of both rooms:

It was a 1984 museum before we moved in.

This is the wall the TV is on now. We just walled up that door to the bathroom. There is another door in the hallway.

Thanks for visiting.

***UPDATE***
I wanted to answer some of your questions:

I got the rooster in Canton TX. I am not sure of the booth. If you're not from these parts, that's a huge flea market that happens once a month. It's worth the trip.

The pillows are from Pier 1. And I got them recently.

The Home letters are from Cheap Thrills Decor in Keller, TX. They have lots of fun things.

My fireplace is painted white pearl. It's a creamy color. My walls are khaki and my trim is white so I wanted a color that contrasted with both of those, but not too much. Normally I hate cream, but it works.

*Thank you for all your sweet comments. It made me blush a little. *

I love your house, that is exactly what I would love to do to ours. Can I come live with you??? Also, I am stealing your idea for the window made into a shelf. We have some that we "stole" from a neighbor's garbage because they were too cute not to keep!

Thank you so much for posting these pictures! You have given me inspiration for my new home. We have a strange wall that has a cutout from the kitchen, very much like your wall with the shutters! I am going to try to find a bookcase to balance it out! You have a beautiful home!

LOVE your home! My living room is very similar to yours, as our homes were probably built around the same time and in the DFW area. We're getting ready to tackle our paneling, and plan to either paint it or remove it. I've been debating whether or not to paint our brick fireplace. Did you paint yours white or is it a cream color? I love the way it turned out!

Dina,
After seeing your pictures I am dying to paint my built in bookcases BLACK. My husband says okay but wants to know two things. First, do you have to treat the wood before painting? And did you use flat or glossy on that huge built in piece? I would so VERY much appreciate your response. Tammy.healey@gmail.com
