My Wedding

Kelly's Korner is hosting SHOW US YOUR LIFE: Your Wedding Party.

Again I have to warn you about the terrible picture quality. I took pictures of my pictures. I would have no idea how to scan something if you paid me.
I got married on October 23, 1999. The weather was perfect that day. And I loved all my fall colored flowers.

First is my friend Kara. We have been friends since we were 7! Then Marcus's sister, Pam, my sister, Kelly, my cousin Stacey, my friend Amanda, who I have know since Jr. High and we were college roommates too, and my other cousin Kristen, who I just went to visit in Colorado.

Kara and I used the same photographer so we had similar pictures.

The first picture she is the bride, and then I am the bride.

Marcus's groomsmen were all high school friends and his brother.

Our sister-in-law, Lisa's dad married us. He was Marcus's pastor for years and had known him his whole life. And Lisa sang at our wedding. "I Will Be Here" by Stephen Curtis Chapman.

Here are the guys, so excited about the wedding!

My cousin Stacey has a crazy link to our wedding. She was living in San Francisco at the time, but had friends in the Dallas area since she went to SMU. So she went out with a friend that weekend and ran into a guy she had met in the past. His name was Marcus too. It just so happened that he lived in San Francisco also, but was also just in town for the weekend. So they ended up going out when they got back to San Fran and ended up married almost exactly two years later. Then two years after that, on October 23rd, they had their first baby.

But, very sadly, Stacey's Marcus died last summer unexpectedly. She was pregnant with their third baby at the time. It makes me so sad, but I am glad my wedding had a part in Stacey meeting her husband. Which led to 3 beautiful kids.
Marcus and I will be celebrating 10 years of wedded bliss in just a few months. We should have gotten married when we met in Jr. High. Think of all that time we wasted and all those frogs I kissed for no reason!

Pick a Topic

I didn't mean to take a week off from blogging. Things have been busy. We have had people over almost every night this past week. It's been fun and I should have taken some pictures.

Also, I started a new project. My friend, Anna is helping me.

This is all I can show you until we are finished:

On Tuesday night I had the Golightly's girls over for Bunco. Except that we didn't ever end up playing. We just told all our most embarrassing stories. That was extremely entertaining!

So did you all watch the Bachelorette? I am kind of sad it's over. And I think Jillian and Ed should be contractually obligated to be on camera the rest of their relationship, because I want to see what happens! My mom, sister, and my friend Erica came over to watch the finale. That makes it so much more fun! My mom was so nervous the whole time. She thought Jillian should not have smiled at Kiptyn as he was walking towards her at the end. (because it would give him the wrong idea) And she totally thought Reid needed a hair cut. I thought he needed an entire new outfit. It wasn't as bad as Ed's teeny mankini though.

OK, so I'll try to lead a more exciting and documented life this week. And hopefully I will be showing you my finished project soon!

Party Like It's 1999

Kelly's Korner is hosting a "Show Us Your Wedding Dress" blog hop!

Marcus and I have been married almost ten years.

So my dress is so 10 years ago!

And we got married in the olden days before digital cameras. So I took pictures of my pictures.

Marcus's niece was our flower girl. Now she's my niece too and she's 15!

I didn't care too much about my dress, but I sure loved my veil! And it still fits.
(the veil, NOT the dress!)

When you are planning your wedding things like the dress, flowers and cake are such a big deal, but 10 years down the road it doesn't matter a bit.

Fit vs. Fat

Thank you so much for all the great music suggestions. You should all seriously consider being D.J.s! Music really does make it so much easier to keep moving.

I wonder if the old couple walking past me in the park today could hear "Baby Got Back" playing in my ears?

I went to the grocery store today and I felt like a total liar. It's like I was pretending to be the girl that buys fruits and vegetables. I'm really the girl that buys Oreos. And not just the regular Oreos, the double stuff ones. (why do they even sell the "single" stuff ones anymore?)

So I am going to try to eat healthy the majority of the time, but I AM NOT on a diet. Because the second I say I am on a diet I will crave every delicious sugary morsel under the sun. So I am just going to make wiser choices.

Like these chocolate covered strawberries for instance. This was our dessert tonight:

Yes, it's chocolate, but there's a real live fruit under there!

Now this on the other hand was not a wise choice. (Except that it really was, because it's the best dessert I have EVER had.)

We got it at Chili's on Friday night and I had to share it with you, because it is so fantastic. It will make you want to be fat.

This is the description:
We start with a warm, chewy bar layered with chocolate chips, walnuts and coconut.
Topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with hot fudge and caramel.

Let's all meet up at Chili's right now. We could walk there!

Shake It Like a Polaroid Picture

So, I need to get my big butt in shape.

I just made my annual appointment today, you know the one I mean. It's in 3 weeks. I have not been in 4 years!! I can't even believe that. And I don't condone it. You should go every year. So I have 3 weeks to get in shape and pretend like I have been living healthy for the past 4 years. That's possible, right? I want to avoid the lecture about weight, blood pressure, fruits, vegetables, exercise.... And I know if I want to talk about fertility I am going to hear the words "advanced maternal age". I am really not looking forward to this appointment at all.

Anyway I need music to get moving, so I bought a new MP3 player today for the bargain price of $19.99. I have loaded it with all my booty shaking music, but I need more. That's where you come in. Any suggestions on good, really fast songs that might motivate me to work out?

Here's my list so far. It is super eclectic and I can't sit still when I hear these songs.
Don't judge!

Trouble - Pink
Switch - Will Smith
Video Killed a Radio Star - The Bugglrs
Cecilia - Simon and Garfunkel
She's Crafty - Beastie Boys
Golddigger - Kanye West
Suddenly I See - KT Tunstall
Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice

Black Horse and A Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall
You Be Illin' - Run DMC
All The Small Things - Blink 182
Paul Revere - Beastie Boys
London Bridge - Fergie
Hey Ya! - Outkast
Ain't No Other Man - Cristina Aguilara
I Could Be Your Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne
Accidentally In Love - Counting Crows

So What - Pink
You Can Call Me Al - Paul Simon
Loves Me Like a Rock - Paul Simon

American Girl - Tom Petty

What songs get you going?

Day Trip

This is Courtney and Stephen. They are some of our BFFs and also our Crazy Mouse partners! They are expecting twins in December. We could not be more excited for them, but at the same time we know the twins are really going to cramp our style! So we have to get in some new adventures before their arrival.

Marcus and Stephen found this cute PINK soda shoppe when they were hunting in the spring. Can't you just picture them in their camo sharing a strawberry milkshake? Precious.

So they have been telling Courtney and me that they wanted to take us, because they just knew we would love it. They were right!

Do you see the pink fridge?!

The owners also have a restaurant next door. So we ate first and then had ice cream.

They had such a fun outdoor set up with a saloon, general store and jail.

Courtney and me in the Saloon. I had to stand on my tip toes to see over the door. I'm not a tall girl.

The best part is what we saw on the way home!

sweet ride.

The extra funny part is that we were in a minivan. So we could not have looked like bigger nerds. (if you have a minivan you are NOT a nerd, it's just that we didn't have any kids with us) We borrowed it from my parents since we were driving all day. We didn't have a car that was very comfy for a road trip.

Why do my parents have a minivan? I am not sure. I guess they are big nerds too. It sure will come in handy when the twins come though!

Where You Enter

Come on in. You don't even have to take your shoes off!

Kelly's Korner is touring entry's today. It's going to be a short tour for me, but I'm sure I'll find a way to stretch it out.

This is pretty much it! Our entry and dining have brick floors and 100 year old ceiling tiles. The green stripes aren't as "glowy" in real life. It's more of an apple green.

we acquired our front door from our neighbors. They remodeled and got a new one, so this got passed on to us. I had always loved it and it looks way better than our old one. I did have to paint it black, but I paint everything. It doesn't really feel like mine until I paint it.

I could use a little something above my door, but I'm not sure what yet. Any ideas? I sure would hate to have a blank space anywhere.
This is what you see when you walk in my entry:

Since I don't have much of an entry, I'll take you down my hallway too.

We took the doors off the top two cabinets and this is where I have my family pictures displayed. Some of my most favorite pictures are on these shelves.

I have wedding pictures on the bottom of my parents, us, and my grand parents:

The bride and groom cake topper is from my parents' wedding cake.

This is Marcus as a bobble head, because I know you have always wondered what he would look like as a bobble head.

This is my cousin Kristen and me (on the right) in my dad's coat:

Thanks for stopping by!

Blog Hopping

The Crazy Mouse.

Today I am participating in a blog hop. You are supposed to post your favorite picture.

This is one of my all time favorites. It makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. It was taken almost two years ago at the Texas State Fair. This ride is called the Crazy Mouse. It looks like a kiddie ride, but looks are deceiving. It scared me to death. (as you can tell by my face and my grip on Marcus) Our friends Courtney and Stephen are on the left and Marcus and I are on the right.

The really funny thing is that Stephen and I rode it together the year before. Our spouses didn't want to go on it. I was brave until we got to the top of the hill and then I just had to hold on to him and apologize to his wife later. We convinced Courtney and Marcus to go on it this time. And we still talk and laugh about it two years later. Marcus now calls Courtney "The Nutcracker" because of the impressive magnitude at which she can open her mouth. We paid $6 for this picture and it was the best $6 we have ever spent.
