We Did It!

We painted our house, brick and everything.

It has been on our to do list since we moved in a year ago. Nobody in our neighborhood has painted brick, but we have always loved it. It made some of our neighbors a little nervous. They should just be thankful we didn't paint it pink. I would LOVE to live in a pink house.

I really want to get new white windows now. Since my money tree is not blooming, I had to come up with a creative solution. So I hung some old stained glass windows in front of the existing windows:

I also painted some pots with black and white stripes:

And hung a chandelier by the front door:

And Marcus finally hung my hose holder with the pink hose he got me last summer.

He said the hose is terrible...but it's pink so who cares. Form over function is what I say!

Of course you know when I say "we painted the house" I really mean Marcus painted the house.

Lampapalooza

The Nester is hosting a Lampapalooza Party.

I'm all about a party and I love lamps...so here goes.

This is my newest lamp project. I got it at the flea market in Ft. Worth.

Here is the before. I just tied some ribbons on to make a shade, because we know I'm not going to sew anything!

This lamp is in my dining room. I just added some ribbon and a giant flower.

My husband made me this colander light and it's one of my favorites. He's one of my favorites too!

He also added outlets to the top of my cabinets so I can have lamps up there too!

This is the chandelier in my kitchen. It is from Ikea. I got the beads from Hobby Lobby. Just string them on a wire and start wrapping. If anything stands still long enough at my house, it gets beaded!



I painted this chandelier apple green. It's hanging in my pink room.

And I can't take credit for this bird house lamp, but I LOVE it. I wanted it for years and I had to wait until I had the money to buy it. That's not usually one of my strong points.

And this little lamp is in my guest bathroom.

Rock On McRib

My good friend Tori lives Arkansas. I love Arkansas and I really love to make fun of Arkansas too. For no good reason really, Texas is the butt of all the same jokes too.

A couple of years ago when I was visiting Tori, McDonalds was promoting the Mc Rib (gag). On one of the signs in Conway it said, "Rock On McRib!" That just struck me as so funny. Now Marcus and I use that phrase all the time. If we hear good news we say "Rock on McRib!" We can't help it.

So Tori just knew she had to call me yesterday when she drove by that same McDonald's and it said, "Kris Allen is our McIdol!" I love it! And from what I know about Arkansas, I bet Kris Allen is just his first name and we haven't heard his last name yet. For some reason most people there have double names, Mary Betty, Freddy Mark, Dixie something. And if someone doesn't have a double name Tori calls them by their first and last name. She can't just say one name!

O.K., since I am on a roll I will tell you another story related to Tori and American Idol. When Kelley Pickler was on AI, Marcus had mentioned that her accent sounded just like Tori's. Well the very next day Tori said, "Do you think her accent is real? Nobody talks like that!" Ha!

I love you Tori, you are the best. And I am so glad you live in Arkansas so your kids can grow up and marry each other. :)

In other reality TV news...

*I was glad to see Shawn Johnson won Dancing with the Stars. I really wanted it to be Melissa, but I'll live.

*And I am excited about this season of The Bachelorette. What's the deal with the guy obsessed with feet? He needs to go.

* I also can't wait to see the season premier of Jon and Kate plus 8 on Monday. I keep praying they will work things out. I feel bad for that family. I know they are millionaires, but I still feel bad.

*Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood starts next week too. She is impossible not to watch. She will say anything and pretty much nothing embarrasses her. Plus I am from the original 90210 generation. We graduated high school the same year for goodness sakes, so we are bonded.

I will continue with my randomness. Marcus says I can switch topics like it's my job. I wish it paid something.

It's the unofficial beginning of summer! Woo Hoo!

Where We Dine

Kelly's Korner is touring dining rooms today!

This is where we dine. We have company a lot, so we use it a lot. The table is an antique and was a gift from Marcus several years ago for Christmas. We saw it at an estate sale and he went back and got it for me. I was totally surprised.

The chandelier and my "Give Us Our Daily Bread" sign are from Golightly's.
And the ceiling tiles came from The Old Home Supply in Ft. Worth. They came out of a 100 year old building. You can find all kinds of fun stuff there.

This china was my great grandmother's. I love that it's pink and green. We used it this Easter. Only at the girl table though. The kids and the boys just got my everyday dishes. I'm no fool!

The pink hydrangeas and the pink flower on my lamp are from Hobby Lobby.

This little staircase was my grandmothers. I always loved it when I was a kid and constantly wanted to climb it. I'm not sure where I thought I was going.

This wreath is from Laurie Anna's Vintage Home in Canton.

Colorado

This is my cousin, Kristen and her husband Kevin, in the fashionable goggles. We rode ATVs in the mountains in Colorado. It could not have been more fun.

I had to take a picture of the snow. I haven't seen snow in over a year.

And this was our view as we were riding. Not shabby!

OK, now you have to see this neighborhood. It is called Prospect and it is so unique. I new it was different when I saw the names of the streets; Tenacity, Incorrigible, Tempted Ways....

There are traditional and contemporary houses all mixed in together.

I love all the color! Do you think my neighbors would mind if I painted my house lime green and turquoise?
