Freedom Isn't Free

Happy Memorial Day!
I am so thankful to those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. And thank you to those of you that have been willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice too.

Fly your flags today!

Our morning started of with Memorial Day pancakes. They are just like regular pancakes, but they felt a little more patriotic this morning.

And this is my view of my "feet"!

I got this red, white and blue dress at Walmart! 12 bucks! I am pretty fancy. It's not maternity, but since it's empire waist it works. I am hoping it will still fit my belly by 4th of July. It's not looking hopeful though.

Speaking of 4th of July. We went to Friday Night Fireworks at Grapevine lake! It's like it's Independance Day every Friday. Love it!

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day!
And remember why we are celebrating!

Happiness Is...

Kelly's Korner is hosting "Show Us What Makes Your Favorite Things or Things that make you Happy!"

All my Joy comes from God, but these are the things that make me feel happy:

First, my husband. He actually tries every day to make me happy. It's working.

And he is my favorite thing in the world!

We have been married 10 1/2 years and it's been a very happy and fun marriage.

Being pregnant makes me very happy! When I think back to the night I took this test and it said "pregnant" I still can't help but laugh. We still can't believe it!

Of course I am happy to have such a great family. And they all live close too!
This is Marcus's family:

And my family:

My friends make me very happy!

This is Courtney and Anna.

I have lots of other fantastic friends too, but they are all being represented in this by this one "friend" picture.

Now on to the more shallow things:

Birthdays and butter cream icing = HAPPY!

This says it all:

I have always told Marcus that I would rather have a Coke Slurpee than a diamond bracelet.

Christmas and decorating for Christmas makes me happy. I start thinking about it in July!

It's my favorite holiday!

Going to Friday night fireworks in Grapevine all summer is happiness. And guess what? They start again tonight!!!

Anything colorful makes me happy.

This is my back patio:

Flowers are just happy!

And you can't not be happy with a fire in the fireplace.

And this is my all time favorite picture:

Courtney, Stephen, me and Marcus on the Crazy Mouse at the Texas State Fair in 2007.
We were scared, but very happy at the same time. OK, Marcus wasn't scared, but the rest of us were. It made for a great picture though!

You guys make me happy too. I always get the sweetest and most encouraging comments. You will never know how much I appreciate that!

I hope you have a happy weekend full of your favorite things!

Blogs Make Me a Better Wife

The other day I was on Kelly's Recipe Blog to, once again, get the recipe for Poppy Seed Chicken. It's super easy and I should be able to remember it by now.

Anywhoo, while on her blog I noticed this yummy looking coconut cake. Marcus LOVES coconut cake. So I whipped one up tonight:

It turned out great. You can find the recipe here.
Now you can be a better wife too!

I'm Ready

When Marcus and I had a contract on our house, we went looking for a new one.
New to us, not new new.
We prefer old houses.
We found one we wanted and put an offer on it, but in the meantime our contract fell through. So now we are just waiting for the buyer of this house to show up and bless us with his or her presence, so we can buy the other house.
Of course I have the other house all decorated in my head. And I have the paint colors all picked out:
So now we are just waiting.....
And naturally the house needs more than just paint. We have to totally remodel it. That's just what we do to every house we buy. We have never done it expecting a baby though. That's what makes this so exciting...I mean irritating!

So now that American Idol and Dancing with the Stars is over, I have more time on my hands. Time that can be used painting, decorating, packing, and setting up a nursery!
And to make things more exciting; I went to the Dr. on Monday and I have a big baby. They estimate her being 4lbs 2 oz already. So I don't picture her waiting until July 22nd to make her debut.

I keep having to recite Jeremiah 29:11 to myself;
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I am so thankful God has a plan. I really, really wish I knew what it was!

Another weekend, another shower. Katie and I are getting spoiled!

This shower was for family and old friends. And that's who hosted it too.
It was held at my sister in law Lisa's house. These are my hostesses: Lisa, Marcus's sister Pam, my sister Kelly, and my oldest friend Kara.

They had everything decorated so cute. The theme was Cherries and Cupcakes!

My nieces were great helpers at the shower and they couldn't be cuter in their cupcake hats and aprons!

This is my friend, Kara, and me. We have known each other since 2nd grade!

She made the fabulous cupcakes and cake stand.

This is Sharon and Suzanne. Sharon is the sister of my friend, James, who I have known since 7th grade and Suzanne is his wife. They have become great friends too.

My sister made these little party favors for the guests:

I have a talented and crafty family!

Keri, Me, Amy

They are long time friends too. Keri and I went to Jr High together and Amy and I met in high school and then were college roommates all 4 years at Tech. Good times.

Everyone was so generous and I got some of the most fun girly things you have ever seen!

Since our house is still on the market and we are not sure where this baby's home is going to be, everything goes to my mom's house.

This is when I was showing Marcus all our loot! He mentioned something about adding an addition to Katie's room.

OK, look at all these cute head bands with flowers and bows! And my mom made the little crocheted hats.

This is what makes having a girl so stinkin' exciting!

My mom also made this afghan for Katie. I LOVE it!
My friend Brooke gave me a monogrammed diaper bag. Can you believe it's Katie's first monogrammed thing?! So cute! (how many times do you think I can use cute as an adjective?)

We feel very blessed to have such great friends and family in our life. And we are so touched how excited they are about this baby too. She is already such a blessing. I can't wait to meet her!

Some Updates

First, these roses have nothing to do with any updates, but they are pretty and they were FREE from my backyard.

I love nature.

So now a pregnancy update:

*I am almost 31 weeks.

*I have only gained 4 pounds. And I am not sure how, because I eat like a man these days.

*I don't sleep great and usually wake up between 4 am and 6 am to eat my first breakfast.

*I still feel good and it has been a very easy pregnancy. I am so thankful for that!

*Katie moves around all the time. I am starting to see my stomach move a lot too.

*I think she is about 3 pounds and last time we were at the Dr. she was breach. I have my next appointment on Monday. My Dr. does a sonogram every visit and I love it!

*I am not craving anything in particular, but more salty than sweet. Which is opposite for me. And I ALWAYS want to go out to eat. And if we drive by a restaurant or fast food place I dream out loud what I want to eat from there. And we live by one million food places!

*People keep asking if I am ready to have her yet and the answer is NO! I am excited about meeting her, but nothing is ready yet. And I am not sure how she is going to get out of me. I am still hoping the stork will bring her in the night!

And now to another update: Our house!

We had another contract on our house and it fell through on Thursday. That is the second time. We know God has a plan, but we aren't sure what it is right now. We still feel like we should move, but the baby time bomb is ticking loud and fast.

So lots of you have asked to see the nursery, but I don't have one set up yet! I am waiting to see where we are going to live. Normally, the nursery would have been done the day after I found out I was having a girl. So I am having to practice my patience.

My bedding came in and I returned the bed skirt, because it was totally different than the picture. So we are going to have to make it ourselves. I guess I should get on that.

Everything else is cute, I just wish the skirt looked like the picture, because I LOVE it!

If we stay in this house, this room will be the nursery. At least it already has a pink ceiling!

We have looked at several houses.
I think about you guys when we are looking, because I will have endless blog material if we move. Everything we looked at will have to be totally remodeled. Some houses have salmon carpet and there has been lots of wall paper and paneling and super ugly lights. It will have to be the world's fastest remodel.

Anyway, we can't wait to see what God has in store for our family!

One of the things we would miss the most is our yard and pool:

I think the dogs will too, but we haven't broken the news to them yet. They also don't know that a tiny sweet baby is about to be living with us too. They are about to be the low men on the totum pole.

Poor things.

Lemonade Pie

Since it's getting kind of steamy outside, I thought it was time for some lemonade pie!
(it's sitting on Katie's high chair, because she's the one that was really craving it!)
It is a SUPER easy recipe I got from my mother in law.
Mix 1 tub of cool whip
1 can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
and 6 oz of lemonade (or you can use limeade too)
After it is mixed together, put it in a baked pie shell and freeze it overnight.
(it's your business if you want to slave and make your own pie crust or use Marie Callendars)
I always make 2 at a time, because...well just because that's how I've always done it. Since you put it in the freezer anyway, it doesn't go bad.
Let's be honest. It's gone in just a few days anyway, so it doesn't have time to go bad.

Showered With Love

I had my first baby shower yesterday with all my church friends! It was SO MUCH FUN!

My friend, Anna, had it at her house and she went all out! Everything was decorated so cute!
Look at this cutest cake in the whole world!

It was a shame to cut into it, but it was delicious too.

This cake was cute too, but I am sure not as delicious as the other one:

My hostesses know me so well. In addition to the "adult" shower food, they also included peanut m&m's and powdered donuts!

I don't really have a sophisticated palette.

Isn't it sad that I hardly got any gifts...

At first I thought I would be embarrassed to open gifts, but I got over that real quick. Katie got so many cute things. Everyone was so generous!

Me and Tori:

I don't think my belly looks that big in real life. It's just the camera, right?

The hostesses with the mostesses:

Courtney, Anna, Me, Catherine, and Laura

Me and my mom:

This will be her third grand child. But it will the first in almost 8 years. We are all ready to have another baby around.

Me and Laura:

She has already gotten me some of the cutest things for Katie.

Anna, Me, Tori in front of Anna's cute house:

It was such a fun day. I appreciate everyone that came and celebrated this baby.
And the best part is, I get to do it again next week with my family and old friends!
