Saturday

Today was our first major outing. We have gone somewhere everyday, but today was for real. We went to an Air Force retirement party. The reception was at a restaurant. So I got my first taste of breast feeding in a public bathroom. I did not enjoy it.
We were gone about 5 hours and I am exhausted!

This picture has no significance. It's just cute. I love her cheeks and crazy bed head. She is always laying on one or both arms.

And we got a swing! I LOVE the swing, because Katie loves the swing.

It keeps her content for a long time.

For those of you that are sick of baby pics, I will try to have some new house pictures soon. We will be moved in by Tuesday! Can't wait!

Do not feel like you have to feed your child, the natural way God intended, in a bathroom! Have you heard of Hooter Hiders? Look them up online...its easy to use, colorful, and keeps you covered! I loved mine! I nursed everywhere with it on!

So cute. I love the way she's sleeping. Ireland slept that way when she was first born. BF in public is not fun when you're trying to find somewhere to do it but it's so worth it.

I have always tried to feed my babies in my car. It is so much more pleasant than feeding them in the bathroom, although I have done that plenty of times too. If you're at a store that sells clothing use the fitting room. It's a lifesaver!

Grandmothers never get tired of baby pictures even if it's not our grand child. She is precious. My grandmother was Katie. She lived to be 89 and was a terrfic person.

Can sooooo relate to nursing in a public restroom...and fitting room, and parked car {in fact, every time I put the sun shades up Raegen asks, "Are you going to feed him??"}, and the last row in a dark movie theater, and so on... ha LOVE the baby pics. Isn't it wonderful to hold her in your arms. My best advice is take TONS of pics because you'll look back and wish you had more! :) Enjoy!

girl....PUMP!!!! Unless you are one of those people (I am not one of them) that feels comfortalbe feeding in front of the world....pump and feed her the bottle. you know...just for future reference when they okay the bottle and all that!!! it makes life a WHOLE lot easier...they even have a car adapter so you can pump in the car during road trips!!!she's a doll!

Katie is such a sweet little mama!!!
def. get a Hooter Hider (it goes by another brand as well) I had/have one and it really does cover you up, doesn't slide off like a blanket and you do feel pretty secure wearing it. With that said, I DID "hide" out when feeding our first babe. Anyway, just a thought.
On to a REALLY important question...I LOVE the black and white outfit from the previous post that K.B. is wearing..it looks cheerful and very Mary Englebreit-ish!!! What brand, where'd ya get??? my sweet little no named baby will need one. :)

Glad you are all doing swimmingly!!

LOVE seeing the baby pictures... we all waited to see her for so long right along with you!!! As for the BF-ing in the potty... it stinks, sometimes quite literally.... I didn't pump and bottle feed. My son refused a bottle for MONTHS!! I did try to nurse in the car, but it was kind of hard to be cramped in the back of an acura TL!!! It was easier when my son was really tiny, but then he just got heavier and heavier, so we had to retreat to the car! Good luck with everything!!

I am behind on blog reading but I want to echo what so many others have said. Don't feel like you have to hide away to nurse. I have two nursing covers (both given to me last Christmas by two of my sisters-in-law) bebe au lait brand and one from etsy. They are both really cute, fun fabrics and stay in place with the strap around the neck. You can see the baby because of the boning that's in it that keeps just a small portion held out. You can see your baby but someone would have to be literally standing right above you to also see.

One of my good friends told me early on to practice nursing in public because the more I practiced the more comfortable/confident I would feel. She was right. My plan was to go to Southlake Town Square one day and sit on a bench in the spring sunshine and just make myself nurse in public for the first time. :) I figured I wouldn't know anyone there so I wouldn't feel as self conscious.

Well, my husband hurt his back and then we ended up having lots of people come to help us out so I just used the cover at home and nursed while they were there and got lots of good practice.

I have nursed in restaurants, at family gatherings, on a bench by a lake in Alaska, in friends' living rooms, in the front seat of my car while it was parked of course, in airports and even in the middle seat of an airplane row for goodness sakes! :) I have never had any experiences of people acting weird or of it not working well. I have had a couple of kids ask me things like why did I put the baby under a blanket or where is the baby or things like that and I just tell them that he's eating and that he's in his special tent. It's funny, one of the only times I've got somewhere away to nurse more privately (because I forgot my nursing cover) someone walked in on me. :) It wasn't a big deal but it's actually been easier just to be out with everybody socializing and such.

Anyway, just my two cents worth. :) Kelly

Hey Dina Congrats on sweet Katie! I agree public nursing is no fun! I hope next time around it goes easier for you (and me too). Hope things are going well!
