The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The other day I mentioned that I was determined to enjoy this holiday season!
And I will say, so far, it has been enjoyed!

My Christmas decorations are up! And I scaled back a little this year. First, because I have a toddler and Second, because enjoying the holiday season doesn't include decorating non stop for entire week all while having your entire house be a GIANT disaster.
So I allowed myself to do less! And it feels great!

Today while Katie was at "school" Marcus and I did some Christmas shopping for her! That was fun and I totally wanted to give her all the presents when she got home!

Then tonight we all looked at Christmas lights while drinking this:

It's the peppermint chocolate chip milkshake from Chick-fil-A and it's heavenly!

Yesterday we went to the Gaylord hotel in Grapevine to look around. It's like little elves came from the North Pole and decorated it themselves.

Katie could actually appreciate the decor!

This gingerbread house was real! Everything was edible and it smelled delicious. If you like the smell of sugar...and I do!

Katie was on her tip toes, trying to see the train:

She fell asleep with in minutes of getting in the car.

I have found that if you want to enjoy Christmas time, you have to PLAN for it. And I have had to say NO to things too and not over commit. I didn't do my annual Christmas Shopping Open house this year. I was sad and relieved at the same time. I had it 5 years in a row. We may do the 6th next year...we'll see.

The funnest thing of all so far was having my friends Tori and Nikki come in town for the weekend! They came from Arkansas. It was perfect timing, because Marcus was away hunting.

This is the only picture I got! It's Nikki and Katie.
We were having too much fun to remember the camera. I laughed until I cried SEVERAL times. You know the kind where you don't make noise and you can't really breathe? And we stayed up until 4 am. It was just like college...with out the vodka.

I hope you are enjoying your Holiday Season!

I totally want to give my girls their stuff early too, it's so hard and I get so excited. That pink tree at the gingerbread house made me so happy! You don't need vodka with good friends!!

Dina had sooooo much fun, you were quite the hostess. Wish I had read your post about saying no a little sooner because I have been going nonstop since coming back to Arkansas and feel like the Christmas season is passing me by. MUST SLOW DOWN!!! Thanks again for letting me crash your Tori reunion, and hug that Baby girl for me!!!
