Today

Today started early and has been pretty busy. Marcus got off work this morning and had some of the firemen over for breakfast. They were all headed to the Stock Show and Rodeo in Fort Worth. I just had to get a picture of the guys in a pink dining room!

My mother in law was kind enough to take Katie for a little while so I could go grocery shopping. Fun, I know! It is getting icy and cold here tonight, so I wanted to get it all done. Plus if we are stuck in the house I want a FULL pantry. Not because I think we'll starve to death, but we find eating pretty entertaining in this house!

This carrot reminds me of something I saw on Dr. Oz today. I only saw about 3 minutes of the show. They were going to talk about how to break your addiction to sugar and fat. Well, I am fully aware that I am totally addicted to sugar. I just told Marcus that I need an intervention. Except I don't really want one.

Anywhoo, Dr. Oz told me he could break my addiction in 3 EASY steps. I just heard step one and turned off the tv. First step: cut out sugar and carbs and eat cruciferous vegetables instead...cauliflower, broccoli, I think some turnips were thrown in there. What? I am addicted to sugar! Do you think that cauliflower has ever touched these lips? It hasn't and it probably won't!

Being pregnant was the only thing that has broken my sugar addiction. I am not sure I am ready to go down that path again. So for now I will just try to cut back on my sugar. I might eat a piece of fruit tomorrow or something! You never know!

OK, forget Dr. Oz, let's talk about some really important Reality TV.

The Bachelor:

Michelle scares me a little, I think Emily could be the prettiest person in the world, I had to fast forward through the part when Shawntel was talking about dead people. That creeps me out and I couldn't have given her a rose. And I have to say, I was a little jealous of her shopping spree. That would have been fun.

I don't see any super big connections yet. Can't wait to see what happens. I have heard rumors who he picks though.

Family

I am so thankful for my family. And right now I am even more thankful they live close by.

Katie has been sick since last week. It was just a cold and she has been pretty good natured, but was starting to get more congested in the last few days. Well this morning at about 4, she started crying, so I checked on her. She had thrown up all over herself. Gross, sorry. After I picked her up she was still gagging a ton due to all the mucus. Not to be a drama queen, but for about 15 seconds I thought she was going to suffocate to death. I begged God to help her breathe!

Of course Marcus was at work, so I called my parents!

They came right over. It was so comforting to have someone else with me.

My dad hates to see Katie cry or be upset. He was probably more bothered than I was. He almost missed his tee time for her!

My sister also helped out. She drove Katie and I to the Dr and we met Marcus there.

Thanks Family!

Now Marcus is home and Katie has been sleeping on him for over 2 hours.

That makes us both feel better!

Katie had to get a breathing treatment at the Dr and we have to give her some at home too. She is already looking so much better, thankfully.

Pretending Like It's Spring

I planted some flowers last week. It makes it look and feel like spring.

Except for the times that I have to cover my new flowers at night when it gets too cold!

The pansies are fine. They are tough.

These girly flowers need some extra TLC.

I guess I could have waited until it was actually spring time to plant new flowers.

But patience is not one of my strongest virtues.

I really needed them.

What if you walked up to my front door and it was just dirt sitting in that flower box? That's not very welcoming. Is it?

Just tryin' to be a good hostess.

My Train of Thought

It a matter of 30 seconds my train of thought can go from The Bachelor,to Oprah, to decorating, to baby stuff to, to sugar and back to more baby stuff.

So think of this post as a peek into my brain...Scary!

Did you guys watch The Bachelor last night? What did you think?

I would never make it on this show. They are kind of turning The Bachelor into Fear Factor. Last night Michelle (the one that is looney tunes) had to scale a building to get to where they were having dinner. No thank you!
I am terrified of heights. I would have immediately ruined the date when I peed in my pants.

I will say that dating and falling in love will make you do dumb things. When Marcus and I were dating I rode on the Texas State Fair ferris wheel for him. It is the tallest ferris wheel in the world. I don't really know if that's true, but it's like a million feet high. (That's not true either.)

Anyway, I didn't want to be a big chicken in front of my newish boyfriend, so I got on. Well, I looked like an idiot, because I was practically hyperventilating. I sincerely thought I was going to die of fear. Thankfully now we are married and I don't have to do that again!

Anyway, The Bachelor...blah blah blah. I like Emily and Chantal.

OK now on to Oprah. Did you see it yesterday? I'm sure you've heard that Oprah found out she has a half sister!

I was so happy for her sister! She is really cute and seemed so sweet. Talk about winning the relative jack pot!

Now on to Baby stuff and decorating. I got this cute sign from Golightly's:

I almost teared up when I read it for the first time. Loved it!

Speaking of Katie...

I have been pretty lazy about giving this girl some food. The boob and the bottle are so much easier! And not nearly as messy either.

I thought I would be nice by giving her some applesauce today instead of those grody carrots or sweet potatoes. She didn't like it one bit!

Good thing my breast milk is fortified with conversation hearts to keep her healthy!

I don't have my Valentine's decorations up yet, but the candy is out! Is it too early to start decorating for Valentine's Day?

Katie is getting another tooth on top now. So I need to get pics of her now before her look totally changes.




Right now we are waiting for her to wake up from a nap so we can go out to eat!

Have you noticed how babies nap for a really long time when you are waiting on them to go somewhere? BUT when YOU are geared up for a nap they will just sleep for like 30 seconds?!

70

Today we celebrated my mother in law's 70th birthday!

We decorated everything in her favorite colors, red and yellow.

Marcus got me a Sillhouette machine for Christmas. It can cut out different shapes and letters. This was my first attempt to use it. It's fun!

I can put clips directly in her hair now with out using the headband, and I think it makes her look so big! And of course she is sporting her Bump it hair!

Speaking of So BIG...My niece Melissa made this BIG cake! She is only 11. She baked it and decorated it herself. She is so creative!

She used fondant icing for the stars and cut them out herself. It was not only cute, but delicious!

My nephew, Jeddy (Jedediah), felt the need to get on our roof. Or maybe Marcus felt the need to put him up there. Better him, than Katie!

His Aunt Dina felt much better when he was on the ground!



Now we are pooped after all the partying.

I've got a sink full of dishes to do and a piece of cake that's not going to eat itself!

Stripes and A Sickie

I painted brown stripes in my entry way!

I have been wanting to do it for a while to break up some of the pink.

It reminds me of Baskin Robbins. Yum. Now I want some peanut butter and chocolate ice cream!

This is what it looked like before. I liked the crosses, but I thought it was a little bit too busy. "Busy" is usually my style!

And Katie must have caught wind that I was going to make her cry it out in the night. So she is playing sick right now. Poor thing. She is so stuffy and has a little fever.

(by the way, thanks to those of you that left encouraging comments about trying to sleep through the night! I appreciate it!)

Thankfully Marcus is home today so they can cuddle on his recliner. And of course I will get up with her in the night whenever she needs me!

Maybe I can get another project done while they are resting!

Or maybe I will do some resting too!

6 Months

Katie turned 6 months old on the 14th!

It kind of seems like 6 months since my last post too. I got a new camera for Christmas and I didn't want to read the instructions on how to put pictures from the camera onto the computer. I think it should come with a guy that does it for you!

She weighs almost 17 pounds and is 26 inches long. That is 10 pounds and 6 inches bigger than when she was born.

She has two teeth and everything goes in her mouth now. I think she is working on a few more too.

Marcus and I always joke that it looks like she has a bump it in her hair! At least she lives in Texas. That poof will come in handy later.

Katie is such a good baby and a joy to be around. We are having so much fun being her parents!

I am enjoying holding her and cuddling with her whenever I can, because I know she is only going to be little for such a short time. The next 6 months are going to bring some BIG changes!

Oh, and for those of you who were wondering about my last post and the angels singing...Well, they only sang for 2 mornings. Katie hasn't wanted to sleep through the night since then. My doctor said since she is 6 months old now she can sleep through the night. Katie didn't get the memo though. So I am supposed to make her wait at least 8 hours to eat. Right now she still feels icky from all her shots, so I might wait to do that for a few days...or months. We'll see.

Do You Hear Angels Singing?

I do!

I hear the Hallelujah chorus, because this baby, MY baby slept 8 hours in a row! In a row!

I put Katie to bed at 8 and she got up at 12:30 to eat. Then she slept until 8:45 this morning!

The kicker is that the dogs got me up at 2:00 am to go outside! Marcus was at work, so I had to let them out. Stinkin dogs.

It is freezing cold here today. It snowed a little yesterday, but didn't stick at our house. So to keep warm, we have a fire going. We had a little weenie roast for lunch.

We are also working on a little project in the kitchen today. I will show you when we are all done!

Last week it was almost 70 degrees and Katie and I went to the park. She experienced the swings for the first time. I don't think she was super impressed.

I'm glad she's not a scardey cat.

I was a dare devil when I was little, but currently, I'm a scardey cat!

This baby's life is flying by!

Hopefully I will hear angles singing the Hallelujah chorus again tomorrow morning!
