Swimming and Shoes

VBS was lots of fun today!
Katie's already asleep, and I want to be...

Summer is in full swing around here.
We've done lots of swimming already.

I got Katie this floaty thing at Walmart and I LOVE it! I was afraid it would be a waste of money, but it works great. I can let her float around the pool, while I lay on my raft and rest my eyes.

Just kidding, MOM!
Of course you have to attend to your kid, but this makes it easier.

Today daddy was the floatation device:

Her sandals make it easier to walk on the hot pokey pool deck.
And it's just easier to keep them on.

Speaking of sandals....
I am having the hardest time trying to find shoes for Katie. It seems like all the ones out now, go between the toes. Those don't work so great.

I bought cute sandals on Saturday, and Katie got blisters just from wearing them at church for 3 hours!

Then I got these cheap walmart shoes and her little toes keep coming out of them!

Where do you buy cute toddler shoes?
I should say cute and CHEAP toddler shoes!

I am having the same problem finding Maycee Belle cute sandals too. She hates the ones that go between the toes and I got some from WalMart like you and have the same problem with the pinky toe!

I ordered some cute Laura Ashley sandals off Amazon. I was so worried about the sizing that I looked at the sizing chart and got my ruler out for measuring and everything. Well the sizing chart was wrong and the shoes are huge! =( So I'm still on the hunt for the magic combination of cute and cheap too!

Do you have any outlet malls near you? I always got my daughter's sandals and all of her shoes at the Stride Rite Outlet. If you go to the Stride Rite store at the regular mall, you will pass out when you see the prices, but at the outlet, you can get them for about $20.00 a pair, and they are great shoes, fit well, and last. :)

My daughter had the same problem, we tried all kinds and finally found saltwater sandals and never looked back. They are worth every penny. They are about $34.00, but now i shop ebay and get them dirt cheap now,i wised up and went to ebay after she was 2 and started buying them there. They do run try to size as well. Hope this helps

We've had success buying from zulily.com; olly.com; stride rite- the brand that fits best is see kai run-they are expensive but I can usually find them on sale for under $20. I get their foot measured in the shoe store and then usually order online.
Its hard to find a cute pair of shoes that stay on-my girl is into rain boots lately;-)

We've had some success with zulily.com. Target also has some inexpensive crocs that seem really comfy to Jasper.
P.S. I commented on your pacifier post about trying to get rid of my 2-year-olds "bay". I'm too weak! We still haven't gotten rid of it.

I've had good luck with Target and Payless. The best sandals she's had came from Payless. They were comfy, have a great sole, and her toes stayed in just fine.

That's funny - Avery can stand the ones between her toes, but I do love those little pink ones she I saw that Katie uses in the pool. They fit snug and are cushy. I can't use those ones that go across the toe, either. Her toes always come out of them too!

Stride Rite is the best! My daughter just turned a year old, they have been great.

Target and Zulily! Also, Puddle Jumpers often have great sales on their site. I have scored sandals for $10-$20 many times.

I can't help you with the shoes, but I just bought the As Seen on TV "Slushy Magic" at Michael's. Even used a 50% coupon. It says you can "slushify" any drink, including soda.

I usually buy my girls sandals at Stride Rite. They hold up great and have great support! If you have an outlet near you then you can normally buy them for a couple bucks more then you would pay at Target or Payless. If you don't have an outlet if you go online to there store you can sign up for their promotions and coupons and get great deals at the store that way.

Are you trying to give your mom a heart attack? LOL! That whole floating around the pool thing cracked me up. As far as shoes go, let me know if you find any good options. We always just shop at Target or Payless. I like Payless because they have the half sizes and they have their BOGO sales, so mommy can get a new pair of shoes too.

Saltwater sandals are the best! They are leather, but were made to wear on the beach. Can even be thrown in the washing machine. They also come in a huge variety of colors.

Hey Dina! I don't buy anything but the Saltwater sandals for Grayer, but they come in girl styles and sizes. They are a little pricey, but totally worth it. You can adjust the toe strap and the ankle strap for the best fit.
