Where We Eat

Kelly's Korner is hosting house tours on her blog.
This week we are touring kitchens!

I have a thing for color!

This is the BEFORE picture. The day we bought the house.

Sorry if you lost your appetite.

These doors lead to the laundry room and the garage.

I made these wreaths by wrapping a foam wreath with strips of fabric. Then I glued on flowers I found at Hobby Lobby. Easy Peasy!

My pink mantle is from Golightly's. And the table and chairs were ours when I was a kid.

They were an 80's oak color, so they got a makeover.

My sister and I used that high chair when we were babies. Then her kids used it, and now it's Katie's!

The flour sifter was my grandmother's.

I got this chandelier at Ikea, then just wrapped beads around it. I say "just", but it took FOREVER!

I also got the light over the sink from Ikea too.

It was a bargain!

My husband made the awning out of corrugated metal and a wood scallop.

The awning is covering an outlet so I can have lamps on top of my cabinets.
I married a smart man!

My friend, Anna, helped me paint my fridge.
We just used regular tubes of acrylic paint.

And I used chalk board paint in the frame. The message changes along with the seasons, holidays, and birthdays.

Today I was just feeling thankful!

Katie has a kitchen too! It was a gift from her Aunt Lisa and Uncle David at Christmas.

She's a great cook!

My husband regularly hits his head on this EAT sign, but I think it's worth it. Don't you?

Thanks for coming over. Next time I'll bake something for you!

Join the tour here.

Stopping by from Kelly's linkup. Your kitchen is so fun and bright. Complete 180 from the original kitchen. Would love to hear how you painted the kitchen table and chairs. I have an oak set and want to paint it black but a nervous I will mess it up.

So so SO cute!!!

Such a great kitchen makeover!!!! I have to get my head out of that whole "resale value" mentality and just use colors we love!

Wow, yours was one of the few living room links I clicked on last week and today without knowing it was the same person, clicked on your kitchen too! I absolutely love your house! Wish I was brave enough to use color like you do. Very cool!

Long time reader- love all of your kitchens past and present!!! I am not brave enough for the blue cabinets but I am considering the black. Would you mind sharing the best way or your suggestions for painting cabinets and furniture??

I have an oak table and chair set like yours that needs to be painted at the lake house.

Can you post a tutorial for your readers (and former roomie!) on the best kind of paint/primer, tips, and suggestions you have for making this project not turn into a disaster?

So far, Zak has veto'd my suggested paint job idea. (some silly reason about the set not really belonging to us, blah, blah...I HAVE IT. IT'S MINE!) : )

You have such FuN taste! I giggled about Marcus hitting his head on the 'EAT' sign. ....... we have had a pot rack hanging in our kitchen for years....I one day want an island, but haven't committed to exactly the perfect find yet....my husband bumps his head on the pans often-it's become a joke. Glad I'm not the only one who makes my husband suffer.... :-)
