Favorite Things Friday...except it's Thursday

I love when I get together with my girlfriends and I learn about all kinds of new stuff that I would never hear about otherwise.  Beauty products they use, cleaning stuff, kid's things, etc...

So, weekly, I am going to share some of my favorite things at the moment and hopefully some of my friends' favorite things too!

For awhile now, one of my favorite things has been my Swiffer Wet Jet.  We have almost no carpet in our house. So it needs lots of mopping! I use this on my wood floors and tile. I buy all the refills at Sam's, so it's pretty reasonable.  More reasonable than lugging a bucket around or running to the sink every 2 seconds!

I already told you about my green Target flats the other day, but I actually wore them ALL day yesterday.  They are so comfy! So they officially get my seal of approval.

My friend, Laura, got me a gift card to Ulta, for my birthday. That was so fun to spend!
I got this lip gloss that I had never heard of before. The brand is Prestige. And the color is tender pink.  It's great by itself or on top of a lip color.

And I think I am the last one on the Scentsy bandwagon, but I am loving Sticky Cinnamon Bun!
I might need to find a more springy scent soon. Anyway, when you live with a fireman, it's frowned upon to leave candles burning.  So this stuff is great.  I got my warmer at Hobby Lobby, because it was so much cheaper and gets the job done.  I know Scentsy girls are having a fit right now!  If you ARE a seller of Scentsy, leave your info in the comments, so people can order from you if they want!

You can see my last set of Favorites here.

When I was trying to come up with my favorites tonight, I asked Marcus what are some things I use all the time. I just needed my brain to have a jump start.
Do you know what he came up with?
 Spanx and Jolene.
(that's facial hair bleach, for those of you that are fortunate enough not to need it!)
I blame my Italian ancestors!
Way to sell a sister out Marcus!

To Market We Go

I went to The Dallas Market today!
I had lots of interest in the green earrings I had for sale the other day.  I was sold out and my supplier was too! They called me yesterday and just got a shipment of 12 in.  So I got ALL of them!

I had to bring Katie with me, so I brought my mom too, for back up!

Katie did great and we kept her supplied with snacks!

And look at the showroom I found!  BOWS! I used restraint and just bought 3!

Here are the SUPER popular earrings!
You can see them on my blog post here, next to the Stella and Dot earrings.

These are $25. I don't ever spend $25 on earrings, but these are totally worth it.  They are a real stone and not just plastic.  And for the record, I have a collection of plastic jewelry I am quite fond of!

They are half the price of the S&D earrings.
I LOVE this color with almost everything.

I also got 3 of these necklaces while I was there too.
  They match the earrings perfectly.
 The necklace is $39
They are both made in the USA too!  That almost never happens anymore!

I put the necklace on for you (in my dirty mirror) so you could see it on.
You can make this necklace any length, because of all the links on the chain.
Love it!

I promise that my blog is not going to be a place where I hock jewelry all the time.  I just got LOTS and LOTS of emails about the earrings.  So I have 10 0 available right now and 3 0 necklaces!

Shipping is $3 for each person.

If you want something, leave a comment with your email, and I will send you a pay pal invoice.  I can ship everything tomorrow!

The Things We Do For Love

Did you watch The Bachelor last night?
I wish we could all watch it together!

Week 8
I hate that AshLee had to go in a scary cave to show that she "trusts" Sean. And I really hated that Lindsay had to eat a bug to prove that she is adventurous!
Bug eating and cave dwelling do not make a good wife! In fact, I think I would be more attracted to a person that doesn't eat bugs! I'm pretty sure that would be on my list of non-negotiables!
That happens to be my opinion though. And ABC never did ask for my input.  This year has seemed more like Fear Factor than The Bachelor!

I will say that I think Sean is great and I hope he finds true love. I am optimistic...I always am!
With the exception of Jake and Vienna.

Last night I was a little annoyed that the girls didn't just say "NO". "No thank you, I don't really fancy bugs."

Then I remembered the Ferris wheel at the Texas State Fair.
The TALLEST Ferris wheel in all the land.
(in America)
When Marcus and I were newly dating. We went to the State Fair. He really wanted to ride the Ferris wheel. (The Tallest One in America!) And I really. really like to be as close to the ground as possible.  That's probably why God made me so short. I am terrified of heights. BUT, I didn't have a ring on my finger yet and that makes you do dumb things.  Soooo, I obliged and rode the Ferris wheel. It was real romantic, because we were in a gondola with another couple?  AND I nearly died from fear! For reals! The people kept asking if I was OK, can she breathe, what's the matter with her, are you sure she's OK?!
My blood pressure is going up just thinking about it!

Thankfully I was still marriage material, even though I am not a dare devil...or a bug eater!

Some Green Things You Need To Know About

Yesterday I mentioned that I got Melanie's book, Sparkly Green Earrings
Last night Katie went to bed and Marcus was studying.  So I plopped myself on the couch to watch the Oscars and I was going to peek at the book. I was still SO tired from the weekend, I just wanted to veg.  Anyway, my "peek" turned into me reading the ENTIRE thing in one sitting!  I left a nice dent in my couch cushion.  Maybe I shouldn't have polished off a bag of peanut m&m's while I was reading?
It was so good! I also mentioned yesterday that I almost NEVER read books! I don't have the patience or the attention span.  This book kept my attention and I didn't want to put it down.  I related to so many things. It's nice to know that we are in the motherhood boat together!

This weekend at Dot Mom girls were dressed so dang cute.  It was fun to people watch. And everyone and their grandma's dog was wearing the green Stella and Dot earrings.  They go with everything!
They looked JUST like the ones I am selling at Golightly's.  I am so glad I kept a pair for myself!
And they are half the price!

While we are on the green train (you know it's THE color for 2013!) I will share some flats I found at Tarjay!
This bottom picture is how I really stand. My mom said she never knew which direction I was going.  It's kind of Fred Flinstone-ish.
They are super comfy and were less than $20.

And this has nothing to do with green, but we went to story time at the library today. I finally got over my fear of checking out books and let Katie pick 2 out.(I am afraid of losing them or someone ripping the pages!) She picked 2 Christmas books AND a Christmas movie. Do you think she might be related to me?
And whomever said that it's not appropriate to have the TV as a babysitter, never had kids! Right now Katie is watching a movie as I am on my computer.  Guess what she's watching?!
Mickey's Christmas!
God knew what he was doing when he put us together.

Dot Mom!

I had a fun weekend at Dot Mom with these girls!
It was a Christian Mom's conference put on by Lifeway.  That sounds like crazy good time, right?
 Courtney, Pam, Laura

Courtney was cracking me up talking about her zit!
She thought they might charge an extra ticket for it to get in!  You didn't even notice it!  This is her trying to cover it up in our picture!
Our first session at Dot Mom was with Angie Smith.  It was fantastic! I needed to hear every word she said.
We also got to pick different break out sessions to go to.  We picked one about intentional parenting and then Courtney and I went to one about raising girls.  It was eye opening and made me a little nervous for the teenage years. Did you know that girls' brains can kind of short circuit during early puberty years, because it's growing so much?  It causes memory loss and self esteem issues.  My brain totally did that! I am afraid that Katie will be going through puberty while I am going through menopause.  Our brains might totally explode.
Or Maybe Marcus's will?

Our next very important session was at Smash Burger!
We were starving from all that learning!
Laura and Pam

 It was so good.
Me and Courtney and her zit. Just kidding! You can't even see it!

Boo Mama (Sophie) and Big Mama (Melanie) were there as the emcees. Of course they were hilarious!  Melanie just wrote a book called, Sparkly Green Earrings. It's about Motherhood.

Laura and I got her to sign our books.
Laura and Melanie are both gaggy aggies.  So Laura had her sign her book "Howdy, Gig 'Em, Whoop!" I had none of that! Melanie was so sweet and gracious. Her book is on the NY Times Best Seller list now!I can't wait to read the book.  I almost NEVER read books.  I know how, I just choose to watch stuff like The Bachelor instead.  I am an intellectual like that!

My friend, Pam, lives super close to where the conference was, so we got to stay at her beautiful house. We immediately got in our pjs Friday night.
Julie, Courtney, Michelle, Me (with no make up, sorry) and Laura.

We had such a fun night and didn't go to sleep until about 3:30 AM!  That was a poor decision, but totally worth it.  I had to ice my eyes the next morning, because they were so swollen.  I was not looking so cute on Saturday!

But speaking of cute...Kelly and I got to meet up at the conference!
She obviously got more sleep than I did on Friday night!
Kelly is just as sweet and personable in person as she is on your computer. It was a joy to meet her!

Vicki Courtney and Priscilla Shirer spoke on Saturday and they were amazing as well!
It was a fun and encouraging weekend!  I was asleep before 10:00 last night.  I can't remember the last time that has happened.

I couldn't wait to see Marcus and Katie.  I learned so much about parenting and I couldn't wait to apply it and be such a positive happy mom!  Then about 2 hours after I got home I told Marcus, "She's driving me crazy!" (for the record, Katie was being super disobedient!) I guess I need time for everything to sink in, huh?
In September, There's another Dot Mom in Chatanooga.  I am thinking I probably should go!

I'm 38 today!
 I love birthdays!
Cake, presents, parties!
Whats not to love?
Marcus got me the cutest cake.  And it was so good too!

Nobody loves cake more than Miss Katie Belle!
She was pretty excited about this part of the evening!

She has been so sweet to me all day and kept singing Happy Birthday!
It was always Happy Birthday to Dina, not mommy!

We are so fortunate to live close to our families.  And really fortunate that they like to hang out with each other.  So the in laws and the out laws were all here!
Jeddy, Marcus's parents, David, my mom, Ryan, Katie, Morgan, Darren, My sister Kelly.

My sister's husband and son:
Darren and Ryan

 Marcus's sister and her daughter:

The people that are responsible for my birth:
More importantly, they are responsible for getting me a new phone for my birthday!  My poor phone was cracked up. It hung up when people would call or text. It was a real winner!  This new phone will be life changing!

And look what else I got!  Coke with $ attached!
Yay for birthdays! I got lots of other fun things too. I have a very generous family!

I am disappointed in my increasing gray hairs. And I am starting to see wrinkles too. BUT, I refuse to complain about getting older! It's a privilege that some people don't get!

Thank you God for another year! And Thank you God for chocolate cake!
